There are many things that Canada is known for and maple syrup is one of them! Some may even call this delicious gift from nature the “sweet nectar from the gods.” Used on waffles, ice cream, in candy and in recipes – maple syrup is loved by young and old alike.
For locals and visitors to Vancouver Island, The Bigleaf Maple Syrup Festival is a fun event sure to satisfy your taste buds! February 1st marks the 7th year maple syrup has taken center stage and this fun event will offer festivities, exhibits and demonstrations suitable for your whole family. Those that have crafted their own Bigleaf Maple syrup recipe will also be vying for top honors at the syrup competition.
To add to the fun, the Green Hornet, a gas locomotive, will be running on the half-hour between 10:30am and 3:30pm.
