There are countless reasons for why those of us who live on or around Vancouver Island love it so much and why so many flock here to visit in every season of the year. Unmatched beauty, fresh and local food in amazing restaurants, camping, hiking, fishing, boating, shopping, friendly residents and more. We really could go on and on! Victoria, BC in particular is a hub for fun summer activities and only 20 minutes from The Prancing Horse Retreat, it is a fun place to spend the day.
An annual event that is now in its 5th year and going strong is the Island Summer Games Festival, which will be held June 27-29, 2014. It is a charitable event that benefits local non-profit organizations. Mainly geared around sports, the games provide professionals and amateurs alike to take part in 3-on-3 basketball tournament, slow-pitch, soccer, dodge ball, touch football and 4-on-4 ball hockey. Absolutely anyone can grab a group of friends, make a team and join in on the fun.
It will be held at Topaz Park and in addition to the sporting events, participants and visitors will enjoy great music, a hopping beer garden, a finger-licking outdoor BBQ and a host of awesome vendors and exhibitors. Since you will already be in one of the most beautiful places around, you can take a break and do some beach combing along the waterfront, visit Roger’s Chocolates, snorkel at Gonzales Beach, go to the Royal BC Museum or paddle the Gorge and see the city from the water.
After each day’s adventure, take a scenic drive over to Malahat Mountain and stay at The Prancing Horse Retreat, a breathtaking bed and breakfast like none other. Each of our suites has all of the amenities you love at home and more. Relax in the hot tub, wake up to views of the Olympic Mountains and enjoy a gourmet breakfast on us!
