All right friends, it is time to get into the holiday spirit! Vancouver Island is a spectacular place to visit anytime of the year really but Christmas is extra special. You will find a host of great events and activities happening around the island but we wanted to highlight some that are coming to the Royal Theatre in Victoria, BC. This gorgeous 1416 seat Renaissance style theatre is just a short drive from our Prancing Horse Retreat so any of these holiday shows would be a great evening event for any of our guests to attend.
December 1, 2014 – Victoria Symphony’s Legacy Series presents Vaughan Williams London Symphony. Trumpeter Ryan Cole will perform the Symphony No. 2 “London Symphony” as well as pieces from Beethoven, Barber, and Arutiunian.
December 5-7, 2014 – Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Nutcracker. You won’t want to miss this beautiful holiday classic danced by one of Canada’s most beloved ballet companies. The score, story, sets, and costumes will make this a heartwarming and unforgettable evening.
December 8, 2014 – Ken Lavigne: Home For Christmas. Ken Lavigne is a world-renowned tenor who has even performed for His Royal Highness Prince Charles. His concert will feature a symphony orchestra and the British Columbia Boys Choir.
December 9-11, 2014 – Mother Mother with special guest USS. Mother Mother is a five-piece Juno-nominated Vancouver group that has delivered three Top 5 radio hits and is a highly acclaimed alternative act across Canada.
December 12-14, 2014 – The Victoria Symphony Pops Series presents “A Sentimental Christmas Carol” with Victoria performer Kelt Eccleston and Soprano Eleanor McCain. Be ready to join in singing Christmas carols and experience a unique performance of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
December 15-17, 2014 – Naden Band Christmas. The Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canada’s West Coast Navy Band, presents its 36th annual Christmas concert series as a community fundraiser for The Salvation Army Toy Drive. Hear all of your holiday favourites and don’t forget to bring a new, unwrapped toy.
December 20, 2014 – The Irish Tenors will take the stage with the Victoria Symphony to perform holiday favourites and beloved Irish tunes.
December 27-29, 2014 – The Gift. This is an original, magical Christmas story set to the music of The Nutcracker that includes a fusion of classical music with modern pop. It is a performance the whole family will enjoy.
