This is true of those who compete in Ironman events—a grueling race known for its tough competition, harsh conditions, and for being a race which tests the limits of every single competitor. This one-day event is widely considered to be one of the most difficult ones to compete in and finish.

Victoria, the capital of British Columbia, is a beautiful city on the southern tip of Vancouver Island and it’s also the venue for the Ironman 70.3 this year. Taking place June 14, 2015, the one loop swim will be at Elk Lake, the biking will take competitors through the Saanich Peninsula and the run will be on scenic trails that border Elk Lake. It is truly a destination race event in a city that is unmatched in beauty and hospitality. To give you some facts if you aren’t familiar with this type of race, the swim is 2.4 miles, the bicycle ride is 112 miles and the run is marathon length at 26.2 miles. It is raced in that order and racers do not get to take a break. You can see why this is a race for elite athletes and it is very exciting to watch.
