Relay For Life, Canadian Cancer Society logoThere are so many situations in life where it only takes one person to make a difference. Perhaps you have had someone pay for your coffee at the drive thru which then spurred you on to do the same. Maybe you have seen the effect of helping someone in need with a clean shirt or a hot meal. In the world of cancer awareness and research, one person can make a huge difference and that is the foundation of the Relay For Life happening on May 31, 2014.

This year the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life will be taking place at the Cowichan Sportsplex in Duncan, BC. This is a 12-hour event that will bring the community together to celebrate life and fight cancer. Whether you are a cancer survivor yourself or have a friend or family member that won or lost their fight with this terrible disease, the relay is a way to take a stand. It is a non-competitive relay in which anyone at any age can participate and is a truly inspirational thing to be a part of.

So, how does it all work? Teams will gather and take turns so one person is always walking laps during the entire twelve hours. There is a great party atmosphere surrounding the whole event with food, music, entertainment and activities to make the day special and fun for everyone. The funds participants collect go towards research, providing information and support for those living with cancer and to help advocate for public policies that can improve people’s lives who are living with the disease. Make a commitment to make a difference and join the Relay For Life this year. Grab your friends, family, coworkers and neighbors – it is a great cause and it will be a ton of fun!

A short half-hour scenic drive away is the Prancing Horse Retreat – a stunning bed and breakfast with all the amenities you need for a perfect getaway on Vancouver Island. Spend the day at the relay and then come on over for a relaxing retreat at our Victorian villa. Choose your deluxe suite and then contact us for reservation information at (250) 743-9378.
